Veterans' Affairs Committee was established to help indigent veterans or veterans in an emergency state of affairs who have at least one day of wartime service. The administrative assistance assists the veteran in filling out the application (if so desired). The application is then turned over and reviewed by the Veterans' Affair Committee to determine if it meets all the criteria. In many instances, if immediate help is required, the veteran is referred to other county agencies. The veteran may also apply for assistance with the following, including (but not limited to): food, rent, mortgage, utilities bills, propane, and many more necessities of life. The Veterans Affairs Committee meetings are scheduled to occur on a quarterly basis. The meeting is held on the second Wednesday of the month@ 9a.m. unless otherwise posted on this site. The following meeting dates have been scheduled for 2021:

  • June 9, 2021 9:00 a.m.                   
  • September 8, 2021 9:00 a.m.
  • December 8, 2021 9:00 a.m.

Notice of any change of standard meeting schedule will be posted at the Lapeer County Department of Veterans' Affairs office at least 24 hours in advance.
